This motor coupler connects the motor shaft to the gear box to protect the gear box from damage on Clarke and Task-Pro floor buffers. It will shear off instead of permanently damaging the gear box, which is extremely expensive to replace, and you are almost better off just buying a new machine. The coupler will shear when the pad or brush hits something hard and stops the attachment from spinning.
